Patients referrals can be made by phone, letter or email. The referrals can be made to specific consultants or to a service (i.e. Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Gynaecology, etc.). In the latter case the referral will be forwarded to the consultant on call.

Kijabe Mission Hospital has taken upon itself to provide oversight to 6 AIC Clinics and has a Memorandum of Agreement with one government clinic at Maai Mahiu.

The clinics, located 30-120km from KH, provide local communities with quality primary health care. They are staffed by committed nurses, and local health committees offer guidance in development matters. The vision for the clinics is to have the communities take ownership, thus ensuring sustainability, with KH providing technical expertise.
