Laboratory
Lab technician at work The Laboratory forms an integral part of AIC Kijabe Hospital, offering a 24/7 service. It consists of  experienced Laboratory Technologists plus three phlebotomists backed by visiting pathologists from overseas.
It is composed of the following sections;

  • Hematology section that does 3500 tests per month.
  • Blood bank section that does 1300 tests per month.
  • Biochemistry section that does 4000 tests per month.
  • Serology section that does 800 tests per month.
  • Parasitology section that does 800 tests per month.
  • Bacteriology section that does 300 tests per month.
  • Flow Cytometry section that does 500 tests per month.
The core laboratory has 2 daughter outpost laboratories at Naivasha and Marira.

pathology microscopeHistopathology / Cytopathology Laboratory

This Division serves Kijabe Hospital plus 46 mission hospitals spread throughout East Africa and beyond.
Approximately 6,000 gross specimens for histology are examined every year.
Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), pap smears, other non gynecology cytology specimen and touch preps are also handled in the division.
The division has one full time Anatomic Pathologist assisted by visiting Pathologists from the U.S.A, who come to Kijabe for 1 to 3 months. Two histotechnicians and a secretary complete the team.
A complete telepathology system is available at KH.  Using this system, it is possible to send digital microscopic images to consultant pathologists around the world and to receive their opinions within 24 hours.
An additional service offered by the Division is referral of specimen for specialized tests to other laboratories.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy


Competent and committed staff provide 24-hour coverage through two divisions: the main pharmacy and the outpatient pharmacy. In addition to dispensing drugs, pharmacists are available to advise physicians and other health care personnel about medications, their availability, cost, appropriate indications for use and possible reactions.

Radiology
AIC Kijabe hospital furnished with a state of the art imaging department along side proffessionaly qualified staff who include radiographers, X-ray assistants and a porter. With separate examination rooms for ultrasound and X-rays, the radiology department has the capacity of serving atleast 600 clients every month.

The department has 2 high-powered X-ray units, 3 ultrasound scans, an automatic film processor and a modern electrocardiogram machine.

Mortuary

The mortuary handles around 50 bodies per month from within the hospital and other surrounding health facilities for preservation. It is manned by 2 morticians
In line with our Mission Statement,(To glorify God through compassionate health care provision,training and spiritual ministry in jesus christ.)We assure all our clients of timely affordable, compassionate, excellent and high quality Health services with reasonable turn-around-time.
